CTY 8 Tone Battery Locomotive is a kind of trolley locomotives which are designed for horizontal rail transport especially in mines and enclosed spaces, to the non-hazardous areas without explosion risks.

CTY Underground Mining Electric Locomotives are certified according to European safety standards and meet their requirements. Transmission of torque moment from the electric motors is through the axle gearbox to travel wheels. The chassis is of dual-axle type and travel wheels are secured with interchangeable rims. Suspension of locomotives is provided by elastic rubber-metal blocks of sagittal shape. The electric motors are maintenance-free, three-phase, asynchronous, with external cooling, and with power from 30kW to 2x75 kW. Speed and engine torque is controlled by the frequency converter. Trolleys and axle bus-bars/pantographs are fitted with carbon or aluminum strips. Engine and brake control is proportional by means of one lever in its entire range of travel speed.

CTY Battery Electric Locomotive braking is performed by two independent systems on both axles: electrodynamic – it means by electric motors through mechanical gears and mechanical – it means by mechanical dual circuit brake and by mechanical action through direct linkage to travel wheels.

Brake control is proportional and maximum brake force/stopping power is self-adjustable. Parking brake is automatic.

The security system provides automatic stop of the locomotive engine in a case of failure mode and when exceeding the temperature and pressure limit values.

The driver is informed about all conditions on the dashboard, and such information is saved into control system memory.

The feature of CTY Battery Electric Locomotive is traction invert control the starting, speed, direction change and braking, which decreased energy consumption, having good electric-saving effect. Invert have shake-proof, damp-proof and dust-proof function. The control loop is controlled by 24V, 0.5A light current, with good safety performance and interlock function when direction change, which avoid damage if driver using anti-vehicle braking.
